Subject:Problem burning CDs with Sound Forge
Date:10/24/2010 3:40:51 AM

I have not been able to create an audio CD using the Disc-at Once command from SF 10. I have a project recored to the timeline with CD tracks inserted. I have checked "use strict Red Book for DAO validation" in the preferences.

File Properties are as follow :

Attribute Value
------------------------ ----------------------------------
Audio bit depth 16 bit
Audio bit rate 1,411 Kbps
Audio channels 2 (Stereo)
Audio format Uncompressed
Audio length 00:38:20.299 (101,443,200 samples)
Audio sample rate 44,100
File attributes - --a- ----

File size 360.11 MB (368,751,166 bytes)
File type Wave (Microsoft)
Last saved 2010-10-24 10:51:28
Location F:\SONY SOUNDFORGE PROGECTS\
Video attributes No Video
Video field order No Video
Video format No Video
Video length No Video
Video pixel aspect ratio No Video

The burn mode is "test first then CDs" and "render temporary image before burning", "automatically erase rewritable disks" and "eject when done".

The disc burn dialogue progresses through to the end, but then an error message appears as follows:

"The disc in the drive is a read only disc"

the error message is as follows.

'SFMMCX'-(17)
''-(0)
-'HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH08LS20 1.00'-(3)
Module f:\sonic3\release\forge\10.0\cddrvs\sfcd\mmc.cpp Line 2083

Extra:

I have tried burning to both a CD-RW disc and a CD -R disc with the same result.

Can anybody offer a solution for this problem?

- Does the drive burn OK with other applications?
- Try burning without running a test. I re-call having some problems like that but not the specifics.
- Try CD-Arc if you have it. (Not bungled with AS)

Try it turning off 'test first then cds' and 'automatically erase rewritable disks'. Those always give me problems like you cite (I'm using CD Architect and files coming from SF9). Also try a different brand of cd. I usually use cd-r music cd's as I've found other types don't always play in cd players other than the computer that burned them.

Save you sound to a wav file. Close SF drag the file to Winbdoiws Media Player and burn your CD from there.
