Problems making VCD

While waiting for SF to fix the audio dropout problems while printing to tape in VF 2.0, I decided to try to make a VCD with my project and have encountered other problems.

The rendering works fine, and when I go to burn the VCD, it goes through all of the motions until it says "100% complete", then issues and error message saying that it couldn't get to all the files it needed to complete. Pressing the "details" button yields the following:
-----------------------------------
'SCSI MMC Compatible'-(1)
'aic78xx'-(1)
-'PLEXTOR CD-R PX-R820T 1.03'-(3)
Module scsimmc.cpp Line 1069

Status: 00000000
Command:
Sense: 00 00 00
Info: 00 00 00 00
Specific: 00 00 00
Extra:
-----------------------------------
This happens consistently, even if I "clean boot".

Not to be denied, I tried different software, Adaptec's Easy CD Creator to burn the VCD from the rendered MPG file. It also failed, telling me that:
"The input multimedia file is not a Video CD ("White Book") compatible MPEG stream".

Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on here?

Thanks,
Craig

Hi Craig,

Quick question . . . after the error message in VF, does the disc actually work anyway? I've seen times were we basically get an error message for no good reason. Although it sounds like more than the VCD code if Adaptec won't burn it properly.

Thanks,

Can you play the rendered file in VF2 and in MediaPlayer? If so, what are its properties?

Are you attempting to create a VCD from a pre-rendered file or are you rendering your project at the time you are creating your VCD? If from a pre-rendered file then possibly the file was created with a format that is incompatible with VCD's. The file must be an MPEG created using the VCD template.

Hope that helps.

I haven't actually tried it. I assumed that it did not finish due to the error message. I can certainly try it tonight and let you know tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply!

The rendered file plays fine in both VF and in the Windows Media Player. I used VF to render the file and did use the VCD template to do it, so the properties would match the template. I've tried it both ways - from a pre-rendered file (rendered in VF) and allowing VF to render it before burning the VCD - with the same result.

I can get the specifics of the properties tonight and post it later if necessary.

Thanks

Checked it out -- no, not readable in either of my 2 DVD players nor is it readable by the CD or DVD readers on my PC.
