I have used Soundforge gor over 10 years but have not used a certain feature for quite some time. Now I can't get that feature to work.
I am trying to record the audio from a movie using remote record while it is playing on my player. When I click on the record button I get what appears to be a constant interferance signal and it does not pick up the audio from the player. I am using Soundforge 8.0d.
I have used this feature many times in the past with no issues. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I forgot to mention I am using Widows XP Pro SP3. I would also like to know if there would be issues loading SF8 on windows 7 64 bit?

It's nothing to do with Sound Forge; this is all controlled by the sound card drivers. If you have a fairly plain and normal sound card, double-click on the little speaker icon in the task bar to bring up the sound control panel. Click Options / Properties / Recording. This will allow you to select what to record. There should be an entry named something like "What U Hear?", "PC Speaker", or "Mixed Output". Select that to use it as the recording input.

Chances are you've currently got some other source selected that doesn't have anything connected to it so the sound card is picking up stray interference instead.
