I'm not sure (and I don't want to offend Sonic Foundry because I enjoy their products) but how many "professionally recorded", for mass production recordings have been done using products like ACID, SoundForge, and Vegas? With the exception of Sound Forge in limited practice, my guess is, not many. These are middle-market products. Sure, they have the word "professional" stamped all over them, but so do a lot of products for sale at Best Buy. This is a consumerist society after all. Yes, technology has given the average (and below-average) consumer the ability to do many things which were unheard of in the past. We are at a time now (musically) not too dissimilar than when Photoshop first reared it's ugly head. Suddenly, "Ma and Pa Kettle" could produce their own flyers for the annual apple-pie bake-off instead of having to go to a printer. This was bad for the print industry. I hate to think that people like me, (a musician, not a recording engineer) will be selling amateurish recordings in the future. I use Vegas, SoundForge and ACID for recording demos of my own songs, which used to be outrageously expensive and difficult to schedule. Of course, you don't have to buy a CD from someone who has done this, so no reason to complain right? But I'm rambling ... You know what pisses me off most? People who complain about giving help and advice to those less knowledgable. Is it just that you like to hear yourslf talk? Or you want to seem sooooo smart and busy that you are doing people a favor by rudely answering the question. I worked a helpdesk for many years, I got the same questions over and over, eventually I moved on to a better source of income. If you (the collective you) don't like the questions, then don't answer them. It's that simple. No one is going to suffer from the lack of your tirades. Sonic Foundry - will you post a header at the top of the Forums page which says: "YOU CAN'T REMOVE VOCALS FROM A FILE RIPPED/RECORDED FROM CD (or recorded from LP or TAPE); UNLESS, OF COURSE, THE VOCAL IS ISOLATED ON ONE SIDE OF A TWO-TRACK RECORDING". Do this so the busy Forum posters don't get upset anymore by this question, and can get on wow-ing us with their knowledge. Are there any other questions that should be addressed in this manner?
