Subject:SF 5.0 recordings fine / Vegas LE recordings deffective???

Hello, all. I posted this on the Vegas forum, but no one seemed to wanna help. Thought I'd give my Sound Forge pals a try.

I have been doing quality recordings with Sound Forge 5.0 using an AudioMedia III sound card with no problems. When I finally decided to experiment and do some recording with Vegas LE(which came with my Sound Forge 5.0)I was surprised to find my recordings to come out deffective. The recorded sound plays with a violent "flutter," like a voice recorded through a floor fan - completely unusable. It's on the same computer as my Sound Forge 5.0 (which still records perfectly), so I don't understand why my Vegas LE recordings are so awful. I have deactivated the Sound Mapper and assigned the AudioMedia III, but it's still no good. Am I missing something obvious? Anyone?

Do you have the latest version of Vegas Audio LE? That can be obtained by clicking here. Also, make sure that you have the last drivers for the AMIII.

Thanks for your quick reply, LanceL, but the "here" link you provided isn't working. I have Vegas LE 2.0c (Bulid 376). I checked the update section on this website before, but I didn't see any for Vegas LE. I will search for AudioMedia III driver info at the Digidesign website. Is Vegas LE 2.0C the latest?

2.0g is the latest version of Vegas.

Okay, guys....you’ve confused the heck out of me. I have Vegas *LE* - not the full Vegas Audio. Are you saying people can update their *LE* versions by downloading full Vegas Audio 2.0 updates?

No, updating just gets you the latest bug fixes and brings the software up to date. Updates are free. You'd still have LE even if you downloaded the update.

Upgrading is not free, but would allow you to unlock the LE version to the full version.

Gents,

Hate to be a pest, but I took your advice and downloaded the update for Vegas Audio 2.0g, with the understanding that it would detect an *LE* version on my computer and keep it as such. Unfortunately, it wrote over my *LE* version, installed the full version, and pestered me for a serial number for Vegas Audio 2.0g, which I don't have. Needless to say I uninstalled it and put back my Vegas Audio 2.0c *LE*.

I will take this problem back to the Vegas forum.
