OT: Need opinions on new logo

I know a lot of you video people are pretty artistic and may have good ideas on what looks good for a company logo.

Check out the logo samples I've got back so far and rate them if you'd like, or if you have suggestions please reply back here and let me know:

(this link has the actual entry number, where it says for example "#18 by raffid"
http://www.logomyway.com/contestView.php?contestId=3815Discovery Playground Preschool logo numbered[/link]

This link is if you want to give them a 5-star rating, but they're not numbered here:

If you have drawing skills yourself, this looks like a cool site to join if you're good, basically a client like myself types what we want, and then you create a logo. If you "win", you get the money. As a client, I like this site because I get ideas from MANY different people from all over the world, and I can make comments on what's done so far and then they make changes.

I'm curious what you all think of this.

The first one and the 26th one are the best. No doubt.
You need to number these!

Kevin, I like your approach for getting a pleasing and effective logo. I like 1, 3 and 26.

I am leaning towards these so far, but it still has 8 more days for people to submit entries or make changes based on what I request:

Well, that's ridiculous.
If they keep changing positions, and they aren't numbered, how on earth are we to tell you which ones we like????
Kindly forget everything I said before . . .

OK - first time using the Logomyway site, but realized this:

This link has the actual entry number, where it says for example "#18 by raffid", so you can now tell me the "real" number of the one you like: :) (thanks)

unfortunately they're all pretty much derivative - i too like your first choice, but it's very disney, some of the others smack of abc learning centres, etc.,

i suppose using 'discovery' was bound to invoke a great many comparisons....
dibbkd wrote on 2/2/2011, 4:26 AM
Thanks for all your opinions, keep them coming if you have one!

When you say "derivative", are you saying they look pretty much the same to you?

I don't know if you clicked the link or just looked at the ones I posted, but I think we have a pretty good variety so far.

This is the ABC Learning place you mentioned, I've never heard of them before, looks like they're only in Australia, and even the logo we have with the blocks doesn't look close enough to their logo to be a problem anyway:

I am leaning towards these (three) so far, but it still has 8 more days for people to submit entries or make changes based on what I request:

Rather than go through the whole number confusion at the website, my vote is for the middle one first and the top one second. Not crazy about the third one.

hi dibbk,

i wasn't trying to facetious - but referencing building blocks in general (there's a number of playschools i've driven past with blocks in their themes), and 'discovery' has been a widely used 'tv' word with a vast range of typefaces....

just some examples

i still like your first choice though - even if it does bring disney to mind ;-)

In the process of selecting a logo consider how much it is going to cost
to print or have vinyl decals made. Vehicle printing has come a long way
and may not be an issue. Outdoor sign companies charge by color processed.

First
Second
Third but different colors for Discovery & playground

Dibbkd

the top logo has little children in what appears to be little concentration camps, holding cells, confinement cages.
Although I did at times feel like this with my own when they were younger, I restrained myself :).

I would go with the bottom one it looks more friendly and learning orientated but not very playground make the playground type a bit more playground.

edit
Or on the other side of fun and learning

ABC Learning is (was) also in USA. Gone bust here in Oz and expect sold off in US.

Agree, #34 appeals to me the most.

Hey ushere, you're actually right, the "ABC blocks" are a common theme, and the more I thought about it, the more I didn't want to have it in our logo, but mostly because it is more for daycares and babies.

We are a Preschool, and really trying to focus on getting young kids ready for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

With that in mind, we're going to focus on the "school" part of Preschool, and now looking for a logo with school symbols such as maybe a little red schoolhouse, chalkboard with A+, an apple, or combination of those.

The "Discovery" part of our name, although I know there is a "Discovery Channel", has nothing to do with the TV show. It was chosen because of the everyday discovery that kids make in these magical years of their life.

More suggestions are welcome, we have about 5 more days for the logo contest to go on, and still getting plenty of updates on the ones we like.
