Im new to this stuff, but I am trying. Everytime I try to "extract audio from CD" It only grabs about 20% of the song. Im trying to get the whole song so I can work with it. Any suggestions?

What CD-ROM or CD-R drive are you trying to extract audio from? Have you had success extracting from CD's with other software?

I have never tried to extract audio from a different program. I am using my D drive. It gets about 1/4 of the way through the songs and then stops.

Do you know the brand/specs on the drive? What is it listed as in Sound Forge?

I think with the information that Tech support was trying to get at by asking you the drive model, is because some CDrom drives don't support audio extraction, or maybe there's a problem with Sound Forge recognizing this CDrom. Thus the question, "have you been successful with extraction from other software?" You might have to look up the specs on that CDrom to make sure "Digital Audio Extraction" is supported by that CDrom.

Another thing to test this out is to download Windows Media Player 7 (I believe that's the latest version). This version let's you extract to a .WAV,WMA, or MP3. If this program can do it, then at least you've narrowed it down to maybe a possible conflict with Sound Forge. The other possibility is to check the room on your "Temporary file storage" assignment in Sound Forges preferences. It could be possible you're running out of hard drive space on your temporary storage drive and thus it quits extracting audio.

Hope this helps,
Brian Franz

i had this problem. i had a sony burner and a pioneer dvd115. it would randomly extract anywhere from 10 sec. to nearly all of the file. this happened with both drives and i could not find any problems with them as i could extract fine with easy CD creator. i have since got a tdk drive and there is no problem with it or the pioneer now so i think it's a combination of the drve and whatever else is on that particular IDE channel. the pioneer i have is a UDMA device and the sony was an older DMA device now both on the channel are UDMA.
