Pro Titler Preview... Broken in 10?

VanLazarus wrote on 1/31/2011, 5:28 PM
Why can't I see a preview anymore when working within the Pro Titler? The only way to update the position of a text object seems to double-click on the text (as if to edit content), then double click again to go back to positioning mode.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't position changes be reflected immediately in the preview window.

I find Pro Titler to be aggravating and the least user intuitive or friendly of the Vegas features. Also the output tends to look too similar. I prefer to use free graphics programs from the net and export files back into Vegas. Anybody have suggestions for a good free titler to augment Vegas?

Setting the preview ram to 0 in the preferences corrects the PTT errors and updating issues.

dreamline, how did you find that out!?

still, it's a bit sad that you have to have such a work around to get what should be an essential element of the program to work don't you think?

personally i think ptt has to be the biggest fail in vegas. it has such potential but is hamstrung by a completely unintuitive ui, and an absolutely appalling help section.

I reported this problem immediately to SCS but they have NOT yet replied, they seem to be very busy :(

I certainly hope they get it fixed in10d...

I'll fire of V8 & 10 tonight to compare & send another support message. More detailed messages seems to get things done.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

It really amazes me what little QA Sony does before releasing software updates! I guess it's fortunate we're only talking about our livelihood, and not our lives. If Vegas was a car, we'd all be dead.

That being said, I'll probably stay with Vegas because I know it well... and most software these days seem to have many bugs.

But really... reviewing a simple checklist of a few hundred easy to test features by a small QA team in a day before any software update release is made would prevent many of these bugs from reaching loyal customers.... Is there such a disregard for our productivity?

Ok, rant off... going back to work.... err... I mean beta testing. When is the next beta release?

You might want to check out Toyota

Pro Titler was created and designed broken!

Perhaps they should have called it ‘Amateur Titler’ LOL!

Protitler is awesome, you can do a ton of things in it. It's people not wanting to figure out how it works that's the issue (I could see dropping another couple $$ on a separate title program, but if you're only reason is that ProTitler has a crappy manual, that's a poor excuse).

In 10b protitler updates properly in my PT preview & my video preview window.

I'm sorry, but my Pro Titler experience has been far less than enjoyable... and I have invested many hours learning it and using it.

It has blatant bugs and it's interface is frustratingly different from everything else in Vegas.

ECB....Regarding Toyota.... I have had one for years and it is the most reliable device I've ever owned. Don't be fooled by all the non-american brand bashing that goes on in the US.

I fully agree.

PTT interface design is counter intuitive and its paradigm is not in line with the traditional Vegas GUI. This would not be a problem once one has walked the learning curve but the whole thing is buggy.

Imho, it looks like an unachieved piece of code.

"Imho, it looks like an unachieved piece of code."

It is nothing more than SCS's way of pretending to actually have something pro in the way of titling in Vegas.

They made it confusing in hopes to blame the users instead of the bugs!

Preview RAM to 0 doesn't fix it for me. I love PTT. I reported this issue to SCS on Jan. 20th. They have yet to respond or even acknowledge my report. Lame.
Christian de Godzinsky wrote on 2/15/2011, 5:59 AM
I finally got an answer from SCS, the broken PTT update to the preview window is recognized and duplicated by SCS, and will be fixed in an upcoming bug release... Sincerely hope that SCS gets that included in 10d... ad hopefully soon. Better to release bug fixes more often - there are still quite many unused letters in the alphabet ;)

Cheers,

Christian
