Using the virtual keyboard window on Sound Forge 4.5, I attempted to record the chords into cakewalk in order to analyze and edit the progression for songwriting purposes. Although the midi path is internal I was not able to get the midi devices for both applications to match. On SF the keyboard was set to "Midi Mapper" or "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth." On Cakewalk the source is "midi omni" and the only midi input available is "MPU-401" - which is available on the SF keyboard however does not produce sound or record on cakewalk. Is there another method? |

The software is internal, but you do not have anything that's truly connecting the two applications. Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router will do this. It's exactly what it says, a virtual MIDI connection that will allow our apps to transmit or receive data from other apps. You can get it from our site, here |
