Subject:what is the best sampling rate that will produce a smal file

I am create small 10-15 second files that will be delivered over the internet. What do you suggest is the best file configuration. I am using SF 4.5 XP

If it is only 15 seconds it should be small enough. However, if you must, save it in real audio format. That will make it very small.

Hi. Something you might want to consider: The highest audio frequency a music file can contain is equal to 1/2 the sampling rate. This means that if you need high frequency response up to about 20KHz the original sample rate should be at least 44.1KHz. If you can get by with a high frequency limit of 11KHz then you can use an original sample rate of 22.05KHz. Small sample rate, small file size. High sample rates, large file size. As to what file type you should use, ie, RA, RM, MP3, WMA, OGG, etc. is highly controversial. The final test is that it sound good to the listener.
