I have a file in soundforge that is an mp3, however the sound levels were very low when i recorded it (played song from a website and recorded what I heard). I want to get the audio level higher on playback so that when its back to back with another song the audio levels are the same how do i do this? raise the level of one or reduce the level of the 2nd song and whicher you advise how do I do it? I am using a intel quad with fully licensed versions and all updates of soundforge 10, vegas pro 10 etc. regards in advance |

To get the best resolution the audio should be as loud as possible without clipping. Considering this, there really isn't ever any reason to reduce the level of a digital file. Also note that if you are planning on editing, you should save MP3 encoding to be the very last step after editing is done. MP3 is a compressed lossy format. Loading an MP3 file and saving it again will be another generation of compression and you'll lose more quality. You should record and keep the file as .wav until you know you're done with it. |
