Subject:Music Studio 8 and Korg M50

Dear friends,

Just purchased SONY ACID Music Studio 8 to sequence using my new KORG M50 as tone bank and keyboard controller. Laptop is an HP G60 running Windows 7.

I am hoping that someone can give me advice because I can't find the way to assign different tone to each different track, and then make them all play at the same time. With the Soft Synth I can assign each track to a different channel easily and works well playing together, but not with the M50. I don't know why.

I am able to designate the M50 as "device 1 (M50)" and at the bottom of the MIDI OUTPUT dropdown box in the track, I can assign MIDI Channel 1, 2, 3 for tracks 1,2,3. Nevertheless only MIDI channel 1 will play. The rest remain silent. It does record, input and output signals are there during record and playback.

If I go to the M50 Global/MIDI setup/basic/midi channel, If I assign channel 1, only channel 1 will play. But it allows me to assign only one channel at a time, and only that channel will play. What am I missing here? I have checked every menu, every page, and can't find the way to make the M50 assign several channels at the same time, like it does with its own built-in internal sequencer.

Does anyone have experience sequencing external sound sources, especially the M50? I am wondering if this is a limitation of Music Studio 8, or there is some I am missing from the Global Setting of the KORG M50.

I would greatly appreciate your help. I am new in this forum and looking forward to collaborating as I gain experience.

Thanks!!

Gabriel

i dont have a m50 but i have a m3......

make sure you are in song mode... combination mode is for multi sounds, this is good for recording one at a time
