Subject:Is realtime DirectX processing possible while playing an LP?

Do the DirectX functions only work on files or can I do DirectX processing while playing an LP? I've recorded and declicked lots of LPs but sometimes I would like to just play an LP that I haven't recorded yet but I would like to run it through the declicker while it is playing. I use SF4.5. Is this possible?

Thanks

Cam

I don't think so. Since DirectX plugins work on files, you won't have a file if you're just playing something through your soundcard. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't know. Anyone else?

I don't know about DirectX, but I've used a noise-reduction program called Sound Laundry (www.algorithmix.com), which lets you preview your noise removal settings in real time. It would work fine at taking your LP audio input, cleaning it up, and sending the signal to the audio out - without needing to work with a wav file (although it certainly can).

kryten is correct. You cannot use effects in real time in Sound Forge.
