reinstalling vegas

OK, I had to have my HDD wiped and have Windows (Vista 64 bit) reinstalled on my laptop last week. I bought the Vegas 10 upgrade a couple of weeks ago but my machine wasn't on SP2 of Vista and when I tried to update it, it wouldn't do it. I tried everything and finally took it in to have it worked on and they had to reinstall Vista.

I haven't gone and looked at my discs yet but I had started out with Vegas 8 a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly the 32 bit version came in the box and I had to download the 64 bit version after registering the 32 bit. I'm wondering if I have to start from the beginning and load the 32 bit version of 8, then download the 64 bit version of 8 again and install it, then upgrade to 10 or if I can (I doubt it), just load 10? When I tried doing the Vegas 10 install last week, I noticed you have a choice of installing 32 or 64 bit right from the CD so that's good...

Thanks,

Mike

My experience is just to load Vegas. No prior versions required just a a current serial number for the version you are installing. You can load either 32 bit or 64 bit on same serial number -- or both for that matter. Once loaded, you need to "register" your Vegas.

You may want to install both 32 and 64-bit versions. They work together quite nicely, and then you can still use any 32-bit plug-ins that haven't been upgraded to 64-bit.
