Subject:Video syncing with audio when editing

Hi, I know SF is not designed to edit video, but I'm trying to simply trim the front and end of a video file. I open a video file (that has a stereo audio track in it), then delete some of the audio at the beginning. But the video does not get deleted with the audio, so it goes out of sync. What am I missing? Thanks! ~BeachDog |

Instead of deleting the audio at the beginning, mute it. Or use a video editor. |

Thanks, but after I do this simple edit I was hoping to export it as a video file for posting on YouTube, etc. |

Clarification please, since your last statement was rather nebulous. Are you saying "If i do this edit it will interfere with my ability to use it as a YouTube video" ? Or are you saying "Yep, that worked, thank you. Now ... how do i export this thing so i can upload it to YouTube" ? If its the former, then no, it won't. If it's the latter, then you can Save As from Sound Forge to a small variety of compressed video formats, but you'd still have an easier time of tweaking exactly the result you want in a video editing program. |

I'm assuming by just muting the audio at the beginning that the video is unchanged, and when I export to a video format that the video will still contain the beginning which I'm trying to delete. I'm good exporting from SF and uploading to YT, etc., once I make this edit. Thanks! |

Ahhhhh, unless there's some newfangled feature i'm unaware of in the latest Sound Forge, it won't edit the video in any way. You can use Sound Forge to edit the audio and to export to different codecs & file types, but you can't modify the video. You'll have to use an actual video editing program for that. |

Hi, I'm back trying to figure this simple edit out without having to use an editing program... I'd like the video I Attach to simply start a little later, like 5-10 seconds after the start of the WAV file. Is there a start time setting for the video somewhere in SF9.0e? Or maybe 10? Thanks! |
