Closed Captioning Question

I need to create a standard definition DVD of my 1-hour program with closed captions. I edited the program on Vegas 9.0e at HDV resolution (1440x1080). I have DVDA 5.0b. I've found services that will create a caption file with timing in various file formats.

What is the best workflow to bring the closed captions into DVDA? What file format should I use for the closed captions? Or is it not possible? I can upgrade to Vegas 10 if needed for this.

The DVD will be used as a master for replication.

Thanks for your advice,
Cal

Does it have to be closed captions or can it use subtitles? Most versions of DVDA can accept subtitle files. Create some simple subtitles in DVDA, export that to a file, and ask your service if they can match the format used in it.

Closed captions would, as far as I know, need to be encoded into the video before importing. I believe that 10.0 is the only version of Vegas that will do that, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other (less expensive) apps designed specifically for that purpose. Have never used one. Might want to ask on the Vegas forum.

The HELP file in DVDA lists the acceptable CC formats.
