Window Docking problem

hbwerner wrote on 12/10/2010, 7:36 PM
I moved the project media window out of place. Then I tried to put it back in the window with the media generator, transition, etc windows so it again is there with a tab so it is under the other windows until clicking on it's tab. It would not go back with a tab, but overlaid the whole window including covering the tabs for the other windows. How do I restore it with a tab and the ability to select it or the other tabbed windows?

Left click and drag the floating project media window by the vertical dots on the upper left and try to seat it again over the others going all the way to the left and then releasing it. It should snap into the other windows and the tabs should show up.

If all else fails, you can reset to the default by clicking on VIEW / Window Layouts / default layout - but beware, this will destroy any custom layout you may have and return things to the "default".

btw - once you have a setup you like, follow xberk's directions to layouts and SAVE as a new layout.

The Giant Problem in the Room so to speak is that these tabs have useless presets organized in a messy way rendering these tabs almost useless. Why hasn't there been an update to make these more custom friendly?

This happened to me too... Discivered this: if your window is floating and you wnat to redock it, hold down the Ctrl key while moving the window into place by left clicking mouse and dragging window.
