DVD A download failed, what now?

bill-kranz wrote on 12/10/2010, 7:27 AM
I was downloading a new purchase of the DVDA software and my internet functions froze up about 83% of the way to finish and I had to shut things down and go to bed.

Does anyone know if Sony would recognize what happened and allow me to try again? I am at work now and am trying to get some advice. I do not have a support plan with Sony.

I have some other questions. Should I try the download from CTR ALT DEL safe mode?
(or F8…) I am on a DSL and my system has a high overhead with 60 processes that run in the background plus Uniblue Registry Cleaner claims to have found 683 registry errors.

Do they offer a boxed version of this software?

Usually after 2 hours or so I have to reboot to get better internet speeds. Any advice in that area would be great.

I tried a search on my topic but the 2 topics were not relevant.

Thanks,
Bill

You get 3 chances to download software. And then you can contact support.

I've never encountered any limit on software downloads. True, i rarely ever download more than once, but on some occasions i have done multiples without issue.

As far as i know it's only the very large media packages that have limits.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've downloaded items much more than three times -- especially older versions which I have uninstalled, then later had to reinstall to help someone still using it. I've probably downloaded Vegas 4 at least half a dozen times. Unless this is a recent policy change?

When I upgraded to Version 10 and DVDA 5, the page said you get 3 downloads. I don't know what happens after that, but I assume you can contact support and get it fixed.

When i did the upgrade the download limit was for the extra content i had purchased, in my case the Vegas Seminar Series. There was no limit specified for Vegas & DVDA.

Chienworks,

You are correct. Sorry for the misinformation. It is the extras that have a number limit.

Update: I seemed to have the dl okay now aside from a error message at the end of the dl.
It was for error code 1601: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered.

I am the support personnel and have a valid copy of MS WIN PRO XP. So what happens now?
I never heard of registering my Installer Service...

Now it is not taking my serial numbers and I must call Sony on Monday.

Bummer for now...

Update:

What happened was I did not fully install it but found the exe./folder in my downloads folder.

Now I have a it launched okay and will try some burns later in the week.

It pays to check around if something seems wrong.

Thanks everyone!!
