I'm running out of memory when using 9 VST tracks from Komp[lete 7 (mostly kontakt 4). Windows 7 resource monitor shows 5630 MB free memory. I have 8GB toal.

Acid is still a 32-bit application, which means it will never be able to use more than 2GB of all that lovely RAM you have installed. :-( Possiby 4GB if the application was compiled properly, but I'm not at my studio laptop so I can't find out.

Here's the technical details on it all, just FYI:

I can only hope that Sony deigns to release a 64-bit Acid 8, but I'm not holding my breath. At least with loops and virtual analogs I've managed to keep from running out of RAM on my Win7 64-bit system.

Thanks Zombie. Maybe ver 8 will be 64 bit, maybe they'll allow you to choose an interval to pitchshift instead of 1/2 step at a time.

AP7e is showing 3326 MB available after following the instructions in this post.....

http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=212853

...so far so good but it's only been a few days. Lately Ive only been running OP-X and Massive which do fine. Its only when I get into adding vst fx on every audio track that I run into trouble which still happens, even with the "fix".

I also patched sfvstserver.exe since that seems to show errors when Im rebuilding the vst database from time to time.

Dont forget to save the original exe's before patching!

Heres a little bit about the 3GB switch....

The copy of editbin I am using differs from the one mentioned in the post so in my case the final command is C:\m32v10r\bin\editbin /LARGEADDRESSAWARE acid70.exe

Good luck. Make sure to cross reference everything before you try this out.

Are you using multiple instances of kontakt? If you are maybe you should combine some of the sounds into one track or bounce your midi loops to audio tracks!

Thanks Mystery, don't think I know how to combine tracks, but will look it up in the manual

A single instance of the synth can receive on multiple MIDI channels. Just route your tracks to the same synth and set it's channel.

Note that you can also freeze MIDI track to sagas resources.

I am having the same issue.
Can't load more than 2 vst instruments. Or load more instrument patches. Acid 7 runs out of memory. It says runtime error Microsoft Visual ++. Or just crashes.
My system has 16gb of memory - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Is there any news about an update that will support 64 bit?
