Subject:Analog to Digital?

I am currently working on a project which requires a lot of high-quality audio. Tried recording in my animation studio directly to digital on my PC with predictably-poor results. I have a friend who's got a very nice Analog studio setup in his house. Being an animator and a newbie to hard-core audio, what will I need to record at his studio and go to digital?

It depends?
Do you require the sound to be sync'd with the video or do you just want to record.
If the latter then you require a good quality sound card Maudio,Terratec,Marc etc
If you need to sync the audio to video then go to the vegas video forum and get some advice.
