When i go to record from an external device the monitor level in the record screen does not go past -20 and the volume on the external device is maxed out , but before on sf 4.5 the external volume was not even 1/4 of the way up and i was almost clippping on the recoding levels.and the soundcard i am using is soundblaster 512 and when i adjust the input level nothing changes on the SF5.0 levels. HELP ME! |

It's not clear as to whether you have both 4.5 and 5 installed now (with 4.5 levels running correctly), or if you started with a fresh install of Windows and SF5 and are now running 5 only. Also, which version of Windows are you running? |

It sounds like you probably haven't selected your sound card in the preferences of Sound Forge. Go to Options/Preferences and click on the "Wave" tab. Now select your sound card as the playback and record device. "Microsoft Sound Mapper" is probably selected currently. Ted |

Try this and see if it helps. Double-click on your speaker icon in the system tray (next to the clock). This should bring up Play Control. Click on Options and select Properties. Select the Record radio button. Make sure that all the types of input you use have a check in the box next to the item then hit OK. Then make sure the sliders are all the way up (this may take some experimenting). Be sure to select the input you are recording from. It probably wouldn't hurt to make sure you have the latest version of DirectX from MS. Good luck. |
