DVDA 4.5 vs. 5.0? Worth upgrading?

glmccready wrote on 12/6/2010, 10:03 AM
I just got a new Blu-ray burner and am curious if I should upgrade to 5.0. I think that 4.5 only does menu-less Blu-rays. Does the 5.0 do menus on BR. Any other features worth the upgrade?
Thanks, and Happy Holidays,

PS Newegg has a deal for Platinum Studio 10=$40 with rebate.

Are you referring to DVD Architect Studio or DVD Architect Pro?

DVDA Pro 4.5 doesn't do Blu-ray at all. I'm not sure, but I doubt DVDA Studio 4.5 does, either. The 5.0 version of both editions do menu-based Blu-ray projects.

Also, if you're referring to Pro, the 4.5 to 5.0 is a free update anyhow, so you may as well go for it. For more info on what's new in the 5.0 versions, see their release notes.

Thanks Rob, I was talking about the non-pro versions but I'm sure you are probably correct. I know that I can burn blu-rays from Vegas Movie Studio. I've been making HD DVDs for awhiIe. I think I'll upgrade so I can do blu-rays with menus.

DVDAS 5.0 will do BD with menus as you found. The limitation is it only supports PCM stereo audio and will convert other audio formats to that. DVDs still support AC3 audio and 5.1 audio.

PS; the 40 dollar upgrade is great. DVDAS 5 is available as a separate product for just 40 dollars.
