Can't find my link/email for the V 10 reduced rate

bill-kranz wrote on 11/30/2010, 4:04 AM
Hi:

I cannot find any email or web reference to the Nov 30 special offer for V 10
yet I know I saw it offered on my system.

I am going crazy. Any ideas on what to do? I do not have any support plan with Sony per se.

Plus I won't be back at my system until 7 p.m. but can monitor this forum
from work.

Well, I struck out because my debit card expired on Nov. 30th… They would not let me upload or spend money on the card, how primitive! Mail me a new card – 7 days? Stone Age technology.

Am thinking of spending the $39.00 for the Sony DVD-A product as this is the first time I saw it listed as a stand-alone product and I need it.

Best to all and thanks again,
Bill

Bill,
The 30% off everything deal is good through the middle of December. On the upgrades it's not such a bad deal.

You could have gone to your local mall .. and bought a gift card with Visa or Mastercard logo .. it will only cost you about $5.00 .. go home and register the card on-line ... then you can use the card just like any major debit card to buy anything on-line.

Just pay enough for whatever you want to buy .. plus the card fee.

brighterside:

I did not have any extra cash to put into a new debit card to get the V 10 discount but if that 30% off holds true I can still go after it when my new card arrives.

Thanks for the tip however!!

Take care,
Bill

Major failure on the part of your debit card issuer. My bank sends me a new card at least a month or two before the old one is to expire.

That's the Studio (cut down) edition. If you buy Vegas Pro, you will get DVD Architect Pro included.

That is not the same as:

If you did not have the cash .. what difference did it make that your card expired ??? Why complain that "They would not let me upload or spend money on the card .." ?? Even if you had the card you didn't have the money .. so why bring up the card at all ??

Okay here's what happened:
Sunday Nov. 28th - Enough money to cover the upgrade purchase loaded onto the card late in the day, after several personal loans, etc. Went to bed..

Monday Nov. 29th - Worked and came home to purchase the download version from Sony, cannot find the email links or any other reference to the lower rate, thought I had one more day to work this out...

Tuesday Nov. 30 - Thought I would have till say 8 p.m. CST to get this done, had the link for the super reduced rate. Checked card status, said it had expired, new one to be mailed.

Granted with "more" additional money I could of got a brand new debit card from a separate company which I may well have tried, but instead there was nothing more that could be done.

Also above poster said that DVD Architect that came with Sony Vegas Pro that is not true. I bought mine as a disc from a EBay seller. This was a, I thought, full version. So the Serial Number was valid yes but the DVD A was a "Trial" version. After it expired I could not get the DVD A without purchasing a 2nd version of Vegas Pro.
I sent several emails to Sony about this and they have failed to respond.
I feel like they owe me a free download of DVD A, do you???

Maybe yes and maybe no.
Some places like B&H were selling copies of Pro 8 all by itself, no DVDA included.
At the college I work for, one department bought a piece of Sony gear (camcorder?) a few years ago that came with a copy of Pro 8 only, DVDA not included :-(

Abolutely not, Bill.

DVDA Architect comes with Vegas when purchased from the Sony website via disc or download, or when advertised on a boxed purchase from a licensed reseller.

What you get from eBay sellers or other third parties is entirely between you and them. They are responsible for what they represent and sell, and their offers may be legitimate or not. Sony has absolutely and unequivocally no control over that.

The offer was available through you forum profile -- all you had to do was click through from your currently registered software. Whether the email ended up in your spam bin or not did not affect that.

The offer was available as early as October 11, 2010 and was well publicized on these forums, so you had over six weeks to make your arrangements.

That all being said, the 30% discount offer is good through December 14, so for only $28 more you can still get what is arguably the best software bargain on the planet. But given your past experience, I would advise you not even consider waiting until the last minute.

The offer expired on November 30th as stated. I can't imagine that you would want to hold Sony (or us) hostage over your personal debit card woes.

;?)
bill-kranz wrote on 12/5/2010, 7:22 PM
I think that's for $100.00 more - in my account settings the offer is in the $239.95 range.

I am only being critical of the DVDA aspect, not the various deadlines or prices which I think is fair.

Thx for the review!

Bill, the 30% discount upgrade offer for Vegas Pro 10 with DVD Architect 5.2 is $167.97 US. It expires Dec.14.
That is $28.02 US more than the upgrade offer that expired Nov. 30. Here is the link:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/upgrade/vegaspro?disp=1

Many online sellers offer stripped down or pirated versions of Sony software.
You may consider yourself lucky if you got a registerable version.
Kimberly wrote on 12/5/2010, 7:48 PM
Bill:

You might have recourse against the eBay seller if he/she represented a legitimate version of DVD-A that included a valid license that could be registered in your name.

We can all agree that eBay is a "buyer beware" exchange, but eBay management frowns upon sellers who purposely rip-off buyers. It's bad for business overall. Sometimes you can get a refund support from eBay or PayPal if they deem the facts are in your favor. It is worth a try if you are stuck with a copy of DVD-A that you cannot register.

musicvid: I clicked the link and it says $239.95 with no date expiration or other discounts. Can you post a screenshot?

thx, Bill

Hmmmm .. interesting ... I just clicked musicvid's link and got the higher priced page .. same as Bill. I wonder why some folks get the high price and some the lower price.

Hmmmm (again) .. I can't find *anyplace* on Sony's website that indicates any current 30% sale. Maybe the offer is only to a specific sub-set of Vegas users / Sony customers?

Also, in addition to the price(s) the only thing different between musicvid's page and Bill's (and my) page is an asterick (sp?) next to each price ... with "* Promotional Price" at the bottom of the page.

FYI .. on my page I am still "logged in" to Sony's site.

(I already have Vegas Pro 10)
musicvid10 wrote on 12/5/2010, 9:34 PM
It might be plausible to assume that if one has already registered Vegas 10, the discount offer wouldn't apply.
WillemT wrote on 12/6/2010, 1:32 AM
Purely for Information, I cannot offer any explanation or advice. If I click Musicvid's link I get exactly the same page as him - the discount offer. I am logged on, obviously, and have VP10 and it is fully registered and listed in My Software.

I thought it was 30% off *everything* .. not just Vegas Pro? And I assume that you (musicvid) have 10 .. or was that a bad assumption? Besides .. Bill does not see the promotional price and we know he does not have 10 yet.
bill-kranz wrote on 12/6/2010, 10:11 AM
I think the better offers are only for the Sony site or authorized reseller purchasers...
Sony does not have to offer discounts to whomever they wish.
I'm not about to spend a bunch of hours trying to get a explanation from Sony and I can live with the $249.95 price...
Thanks anyway for the insight into what is happening with this.
