I don't know if there are DirectX plug ins, I got my Vegas 10 with the limited version of Sound Forge, are there DirectX plugins bundled with it?

I can't find any directX plugins.

If it's on this machine, who do I find it and delete it?

Funny you should mention this... I've been using V10 64bit since it was released, but I just downloaded V10 32bit because I wanted to try out my Magic Bullet Looks and Sony Cinescore with V10 32bit. It stopped loading at the same spot you mentioned (at the DirectX plugins).

I'm going to try removing/re-installing V10 32bit and a few other options; if successful, I'll re-post.

Anyone know how to root out the pesky DirectX plug in? I want to use 32 bit as well for Magic Bullet (killer software).

I've heard removing Media Manager gets rid of DirectX, that's fine too, I never use Media Manager so won't miss it.

I've been doing google searches on this... it appears that the problem may be NewBlue plugins. Do you have any plugins by NewBlue?

If you have the NewBlue plugins, here's a quick test I just performed: Before trying to open Vegas V10 32bit, in Program Files (x86)/NewBlue folder, rename the NewBlue folder "_NewBlue" and then just click Enter. Then try to open Vegas V10a, and it just opened for me. I then closed Vegas 10 32bit, renamed the NewBlue file to the original name, and then tried to re-open Vegs 10a 32bit... no luck. Not sure why or how to proceed further, as I really don't want to delete the NewBlue plugins and reinstall everything. Anyone else run into this?

You are a genius sir. I'm not even going to ask how you figured out that tinkering with NewBlue (yes I have it) would straighten out DirectX. Bottom line: It's alive!

New Blue screwed me the same way. Had to reactivate them. The plugs are so annoying. They still ask for reactivation 24 hrs or so.

I'd love to take the credit, but I just googled something like "sony vegas initializing directx plugin" and http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091103153115AAyAnYSthis answer[/link] came up.
