Recently upgraded to SF 5.0 and was hoping that I wouldn't have to shell out more money to upgrade NR 4.0 to NR 5.0. Do you know of anyway to install NR 4.0 so it can be used with SF 5.0? |

Although I am not positive I would think that it would still work. Maybe you can email a letter to sounic foundry and ask them. They surely have the answer. Keith |

Maybe I'm missing something but the current version of Noise Reduction (by Sonic Foundry) is still 2.0...right? I've got it installed and it works fine with both 4.5 and 5.0. Regards, Brent |

You're not missing a thing. Sonic Foundry's numbering is mind numbing. The only thing I've been able to sumise from the renumbering is that there are versions 1 & 2 of Direct X, Noise Reduction, which is strange because when I upgraded from NR 3.0 to NR 4.0 it was for the specific reason that SoundForge 4.0 would not work with NR 3.0. The reason given was that NR 4.0 used Direct X and NR 3.0 did not. What muddles matters even more is that I phoned Sonic Foundry before upgrading to Sound Forge 5.0 to find out if NR 4.0 would work with the upgrade. I was told that it would because NR 4.0 uses Direct X. However, when I attempt to install NR 4.0 with SF 5.0 a message appears informing me that SF 4.0 needs to be installed first. Go figure. |
