Subject:Use MIDI controller to control automatable filters

I'm sure this is simple but I can't find anything on forums, manual or help files. I want to use a MIDI controller to control a VST filter's automatable parameters, and record the adjustments in a filter automation envelope.

The track is an audio track with an automatable VST. I've managed to use my MIDI device using the 'Generic Control' device in 'Options/External control and automation', but that doesn't give me control of individual track's filter envelopes.

Any tips very gratefully received
Chris

I know you can use MIDI controllers to automate data at the Bus track level, but that must be on a MIDI track routed to a VSTi, not digital audio.

For digital audio tracks, you would have to expose the parameter you want to automate (via the "Configure FX Automation" button in the upper right corner of the Audio Plug-In window) and then place the cursor on the timeline and modify the parameter in the VST effect itself or simply take the Draw Tool and hold down Shift while hovering over the envelope.

HTH,
