Subject:Acid Pro 7 too quiet after Rendering

Anybody else having this issue? I'm working on a Dell Precision Workstation with an Intel Xeon Quad Core. Here's my issue, when I finish a song, and mix everything according to Acid's level meters (meaning I don't let anything clip, if it's in the red I bring it down), I render the track to .wav or .mp3, it doesn't matter, my songs are ALWAYS at least 4 or 5dB quieter than they should be. If I turn anything up in Acid something will inevitably go in the red, adding compressors/limiters has not worked either. It's almost as if there is a function within Acid keeping everything quiet. Any ideas, suggestions, comments? |

What's wrong with letting it go in the red? As long as you don't go over 0dB you won't get distortion. I typically try to get my finished mix to peak at about -0.5dB. |

No, I'm recording in at -3dB full scale, when I render the song is very quiet. |

A couple of things to ensure it isn't ACID: -Anything you listen to in ACID's Explorer has a cut applied to it as dictated by the Preview fader in the Mixing Console. Anything you add to the track list will have this cut applied automatically at the track level. Double-click the track's volume fader to set it to unity. -Load up the render in an audio editor like Sound Forge Pro. The levels should be identical to what ACID reported them to be pre-render on the Master bus in the Mixing Console. -Ensure whatever you're listening through isn't applying any kind of cut to the audio. Check the entire signal flow. Iacobus |
