Yup, have the same problem. Looks like Video Factory 2 is due for a patch. To recap, it looks like we have two major bugs:

1) Audio out of sync when you print to tape w/ Vidcap 2.5

Workaround: Use Vidcap 2.0e Of course, the older Vidcap program doesn't capture multi-segmented files so you might not want to use it as your default capture program. Note: Both Vidcap programs can coexist on the same system.

2) VF 2 Freezes up when you select "text" in the Text and Backdrops tab in the multifunction area.

Work Around: Use the "Insert Text Media" Button on the Toolbar.

Speaking of out of sync, I noticed several AVI's I downloaded off the Internet (plus some I captured in AMcap) have different audio and video lengths. These videos play back fine in Windows Media Player but play out of sync in VF 2 (Vidcap problems notwithstanding). Plus, VF2 sometimes refuses to preview them at all sometimes.

Finally, while I'm in complaint mode, here are some "feature enhancements" I would like to see in VF2:

1) Give the trimmer a permanent tab in the multifunction window. I personnaly don't care for the
trimmer but a lot other people apparently do.

2) Add frame advance/reverse buttons to the transport controls. Using Alt-Arrow Key works, but anyone who didn't read the manual wouldn't know that. Also, why don't you make the default action for the arrow keys frame advance/reverse instead of the wierd multi-frame advance you have now.

3) The ability to OPEN Windows Media Files.

4) The ability to save Quicktime files using custom settings instead of templates. A lot of other inexpensive programs offer that functionality.

In spite of my complaints, I still love Video Factory. Keep up the good work Sonic Foundry.

Nope. I'm using Windows 98 SE too and I'm really pushing Video Factory. Just rendering a mamouth 54 minute video with every track in use. Clicking on the area you are having a problem with works OK for me.
