Vegas + Win 7 64 friendly sound devices?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations for sound devices/cards. Here's what I'm looking for:

1. Vegas and ASIO friendly
2. Good quality analogue recording (prefer 1/4" line inputs)
3. Able to control 6 discrete analogue playback channels for surround sound playback off the Vegas timeline (VERY IMPORTANT!!)
4. Windows 7, 64 bit friendly
5. Reasonably priced. I don't have $700 to spend.
6. Digital ins and outs a bonus

Sounds like I want the world for a penny, eh?

I picked up a second hand Echo Gina 24 almost a year ago, but I think I was ripped off (it's unusable - it will start squealing and making nasty digital glitch noises after 5 or 10 mins, and levels are super quiet even when maxed (except for those digital glitch noises, they're loud!!)).

As I suspect this is a hardware fault of the Gina, I'm not against trying Echo again, but I'd like to see what other people are using too.

Cheers,
Jason

Go to ebay and get a MOTU 828 mkII. Should be able to pick one up for around $450.
Also, the Presonus Firestudio Project may also be in your budget or the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 or Mackie Onyx Blackbird. There are a bunch of choices for what you are looking for all around $499. Go to any site like Sweetwater or B & H and search for Firewire Audio Interface.
Most of the interfaces these days have the Nuetrik connectors which allow for both XLR and 1/4" inputs.

Thank you Marillion, I appreciate the pointers. Its always good to hear what fellow Vegasians (!!) are doing. Groupthink. ;-)

Cheers,
Jason.
