You've got me a bit lost on #1. What about that window do you think could be sizable?

On #2, just to keep you from getting too hopeful, the general pattern is that major features are added to Version upgrades rather than appearing in updates. The chances of seeing GPU enhanced previews in an update to 10 are most likely slim.

have to agree with myerz on that #1.

i gave up using the 'small' window in 'text' ages ago in favour of ps simply because it's fine for say lower thirds, but useless for any form of layout or multiple lines of 'small' text.......

i mean you can resize ptt after all.....

I'd like to see thumbnail views of video files in the Explorer window. Surely it can't be too hard to display one frame of the video so that you don't have to preview a clip to see what it is.

After all, once you've used a clip in a project you can see a thumbnail view in the Project Media window, so it can't be too hard to do.

Cheers

Russ

I filed the following product suggestion with SCS:

a) I would like Vegas to prevent my computer from going into hibernation when doing jobs without mouse or keyboard activity, like rendering (I believe there is an API for that).

b) Alternatively, I would like to have an option to switch the computer off when rendering finishes (with a warning to save the project before starting the render).

c) Both.

In this way I could leave my computer unattended when doing long jobs without having to set it in a mode where it remains on all the time, thus saving energy and wear and tear.

I believe the computer going into hibernation is a "Windows" on or off checkbox thing.

I believe the computer going into hibernation is a "Windows" on or off checkbox thing.

That's right but that's not the problem. When the computer is set for hibernation, it doesn't hibernate when there is activity. However, it only considers using the mouse or keyboard as activity, not programs that are running unattended, so it often goes into hibernation during a render.

At this moment the alternative is switching hibernation off but that means that the computer keeps running after the render is finished.

Today my attention was drawn to a utility named Vegasauer; it contains a Render Assistant that does just what I asked for.

Folder tracks when collapsed shoud be locked, completely, no changes of any form possible e.g. split.
Yes, I've put this in the suggestion box.

I totally agree with you Bob, that is why I am not using this feature. It should be a safe zone which can be unlocked quickly.

I'd like to be able to zoom the Video Preview window (or maybe zoom an area within the Video Preview). When using the eyedropper for color correction, I sometimes have a very small area that I know is absolutely black (or white or gray). If I could zoom this area, it would be much easier to select these small areas.

...Jerry (who is actually hoping for a reply that you can already do this)

I'll disagree slightly. Folder tracks should be able to be locked at the user's discretion. There can be times i would like to collapse tracks merely to condense screen space, but would still like splits and other operations to apply to them.

Let's broaden that to allow regular tracks to be locked too. In fact, locking should be optional for any track regardless of it's other states. I wouldn't want to tie such an important function to another function.

a big thumb ups for locking tracks and folder tracks! And in future adding special regionals on tracks that can be locked, with a summary window of locked tracks or regionals ;-)

Restore V8 FX TL cursor behaviour.

Suppose you have to move keyframes, with cursor sync active it was easy to choose the frame with help of preview, then go in the FX TL and drag the keyframe to cursor position which could be used like a marker.

With V10, any clic on some keyframe moves the FX TL cursor to the keyframe actual position. The only workaround is to move the keyframe (or set of) using the project TL. Not a big issue but I miss old behaviour.

Programmable cuves for FX timelines.

I'd like to be able to select a sine, square, triangle or saw wave, choose its length, amplitude, and offset. Oh yeah, and be able to set a start and ending frequency so I can sweep it.

While we're at it, Why not able able to specify another curve as an amplitude envelope, as an alternative to a fixed amplitude.

It would fun - and there'd be some crazy effects you could make.

Agree on both Chienworks, I do like to have the folder tracks locked but having the option to lock or unlock is better and locking individual tracks would also be great.

Before asking SCS to build new features in 10b, I think it is wise to let them fix the existing ones.

10b should be a maintenance release, not a feature release.

Just my 2 cents...

Quite correct. And these should really be wishes for version 11, not update 10.b.

1 - 'Proper' implementation of the Track Grouping, to be 'folder tracks' like it should have been to start off , or at least with a combined Mute and Vol envelope.

And the 'control surface indicator bars' on LHS of track headers spanning out when grouped tracks are collapsed.

2 - Fix the track-header variable-size scribble strip that moves control icons around all over the place depending on header height.

I would really really like the disturbing noise glitch fixed when going backwards or sped up once forwards with the J or L keys fixed.
I started a thread the first week Veg. 10 was released.

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=731800

I can't believe no body else has complained about this. It's like it takes a 2 frame sample of audio and stutters it. Almost like what you hear when you do a 2 frame loop region and play it.
Intolerable!

I also agree with Myerz about the window resizing
Also the agree with the snapping keyframes. I used to use the keyframes to sync certain fades or fx. now as soon as I touch the timeline the curser moves position.

"I would really really like the disturbing noise glitch fixed when going backwards or sped up once forwards with the J or L keys fixed."

If I understand what your saying correctly, I think this is because we're scrubbing digital audio. I used to be able to change the audio scrubbing in Avid Liquid to either analog or digital. When in analog mode, it would sound more acceptable, much like what you'd expect to hear when fast forwarding/rewinding a tape.

I would like to have that option available in Vegas.

L8R is right, this is a bug that came with V10.

Do not compare Vegas and Avid audio, this is another world :)
