Subject:Newest ASIO Driver(s)?

My ASIO driver seems a bit suspect. Latency? Crashes? Acid Pro V6 (D).

I can't seem to find a newer driver on the web.

The one listed in ACID is v 1.0, build 1496. circa 2006.

Is there a newer one by Sony? I got ASIO4all.com's version but it doesn't seem
to want to control my Digi002 Rack.

Thanks,
Rick

The ASIO "driver" is provided by your audio card vendor - not Sony. You may be looking at some asioxxx.dll included with Acid but that's not a hardware driver.

Might help to know what card you are using....

Wouldn't the Digi002 rack be considered my audio card in this case?

Then get on the case with Avid/Digidesign. And I see the Digi 002 Rack seems to be discontinued...

Also - considering ASIO is a creation of Steinberg....not sure what kind of additional software support to expect. I can't really see Digi putting in any additional time making new ASIO drivers....

You may also consider steeping up to a vendor with better drivers like RME or similar....

Select the Classic Wave Drivers.
That's what I'm using.

The OP said in his post that "ASIO4ALL" does not work with his Digi 002.

His only course of action is to install the ASIO driver specifically designed for his device. Its either available on his Utilities CD that came in the box or he can download it from the support section of the AVID/Digidesign web site.

As stated by a couple of other posters, to obtain the best performance for your hardware device (lowest latency, full I/O, best stability, etc.) you should use the drivers designed by the hardware manufacturer. Many manufacturers post a list of software packages (plug-ins, DAWs, etc.) their devices have been tested and approved with.

Oops........you're right, my mistake, I had read too fast and yes, it's always better to use the drivers that came with the hardware, but not always possible, since hardware get's obsolete quickly and manufacturers don't always update their older hardware's drivers to enable them to work with newer operating systems.
Especially Digi/Avid.

Sad. Even Echo still supports their legacy products with current drivers.

The problem with anything from Avid/Digi is you are stuck with their drivers. You have to use their Core Audio driver which has always been dodgy. Third party drivers don't and won't work.
