I have a large wav file, about 615 MBs, and frequently right after I open the file, if I scroll, zoom or resize the waveform view, SF5.0b hangs (freezes) - I can't even Ctrl-alt-del, I must hard restart the system. This is on Win2K server Any ideas? |

This is likely caused by your video card drivers. Please update your video card drivers from the manufacturer's website. Ted |

First off, our products have never been tested on server editions of Windows OSes. However, this sounds like it may be fixable. Try lowering your hardware graphics acceleration (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings tab -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting tab), and try lowering your hardware graphics acceleration to none. What would be even better would be to check with the manufacturer of your video card to make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card. |

Thanks for the idea regarding the video drivers. I actually took a different route to fix it: In SF, under preferences, in the 'General" tab, there is an option called "Compatible draw mode (for broken video drivers)" -- Checking this seemed to fix the problem. What I don't understand is why this happened all of a sudden, as it was working for months and I haven't made any major changes to the box in a while. I uninstalled a bunch od software, including SF, defragged my drives, reinstalled SF & the problem still existed -- until I checked the compatibility box. |
