Do any of you guys use an Audiophile 2496? If so, would you recommend it? How does it sound with Acid and Sound Forge? I really don't wanna buy the SoundBlaster Live Platinum coz it's a consumer card vs. the Audiophile card, which is a pro.

Thanx,
G.

Hello,

I have an M-Audio Dio 24/96 Card installed side by side with a Sound Blaster Platinum in the same machine, and it sounds alot better than the SB Live. Also it makes Acid performance better, as far as buffering needed.

I would say Go For It!!

My understanding was that the M-Audio cards had W2k drivers now, but not WDM support limiting their useability with many apps under W2K (I don't know this for fact though)

Rockglider,

What OS are you using there?

Using Windows ME but the latest drivers at M-Audio are dated 7/16/01 most recent and they do support Win2k.

I noticed that the sound card takes some of the burden off the CPU. Great card I love it. Great recording tooo.

Got an Echo Mia ($188) which has the new-gen ADA converters AND 8-channel internal DSP mixing with multiple app operation. Killer specs, especially with the pro-level balanced analog inputs.

I would really like to get the Dio 2496 but the card doesn't have analog ins.

If the Audiophile has Analog ins get it. It's a better card and made by the same company. The only reason I bought the Delta is I'm runnin a digital in recording device for my guitar, and my output is 5.1 SPDIF Surround Sound 300Watt receiver, Optical input. So the card was just what I needed. The Audiophile is a few bucks more but you will be happy with it for sure.
