Subject:Forge 4.5 and 5.0

Just recieved my upgrade to SF v5.0 recently, but I'd like to continue using CD Architect in v4.5 also. Since 5.0 does not support CD Architect, can both these versions exist happily on a Win 2000 machine?

Thanks,
Rich

I have both 4.5 and 5 installed but I HAD to install 4.5 first as 5 wouldn't allow 4.5 once 5 was installed. I mistakenly uninstalled 4.5, installed 5 and when I found some missing features in 5 I attempted to reinstall 4.5 but 5 wouldn't allow it. Even when 5 was uninstalled, traces of it must have been left in the Windows registry as it still wouldn't let me install 4.5. The SF folk couldn't come up with a workable fix and I had to reformat, install 4.5 and then install 5. That worked but it was a drastic pain!

You shoulkd get a program like Norton Systemworks. It winn wipe a program totally out of your computer so you don't have to do things like reformat.

Hi,

The problem you were having reinstalling 4.5 was most likely due to leftover registry keys from your previous 4.5 install, not 5.0 being on the machine.

For example, say you have SF 4.5c on CD, you install it, then download and install the 4.5h update from our website. Now, if you delete all the SF 4.5 files from your hard drive without using Add/Remove Programs or the equivalent, you will not be able to install 4.5c again because according to the Windowsr registry 4.5h is still installed.

This is most likely the cause of the trouble you were having, not 5.0.
