Media file is too big!

First, sorry for my mistake but English is not my first language.
I have the same problem ("Media file is too big and could not fit into single disc...").
Don't you think that cliking on "Fit to Disc" should automatically solve the problem (shrink files below disc limit)?
Why we have button "Fit to disc" if it is NOT WORKING?
The whole idea that I want to use button "FIT to DISC" is that my files are too big and I send a message to the program DO IT FOR ME.
Instead in replay it says: "Consider making more media assets available for recompress or REMOVE SOME MEDIA ASSTS".
It is really a terrible software. So much problems with something which should be very easy to solve.

Go to File>Optimise Disc and select the video or audio files that you wish the system to recompress. Fit to Disc will then do the job for you.

It works fine for me.

If you want anyone to be able to help you, try less hand-wringing and more information.

Just how big is the media file (file size and length)? If it's so large that DVDA would have to use an excessively low bitrate, then it may be too big to fit no matter what DVDA does (since it's not allowed to go below, I think, 2Mb/sec).

What type of file is it? We need both format and -- if that format allows for more than one -- codec. If the file is already DVD compliant, but you want to use the Fit To Disc option, you have to go to File > Optimize Disc and change the Recompress setting for that video from No to Yes. Fit to Disc requires that a file be recompressed, but DVDA also happens to be smart enough that by default it won't recompress a file if it's already DVD compliant. In your case, you may need to tell DVDA to ignore this default behavior. I can't be sure since you haven't told us anything about the file(s) you're trying to add.

That said, you should try avoid recompressing an already DVD compliant file as this will negatively affect its quality. If you can, go back to where you created the file (assuming you created it) and encode it using a suitable bitrate.

First, I'm not an expert. It is completely new for me.
My file is just over 9GB and I try to fit it on DL 8.5 GB, so it shoud not be a big problem.
When I click on "Make DVD" button I have a message: "The estimated size of the project is larger than the default space available on media". Yes,it is true, by ~1GB.
So, I have 2 options:
1.Optimize Disc
2.Delete assets from the project
I choose 1 option.
In "Optimize Disc" window in Menu 1 I have two signs "!" under video and audio. What I understand they both require recompression.
So, I click on the right side button "Video 1" and I have a message:
"+ Recompress Required"
Next I go to "Recompress Settings" and change "Use default bit rate" to "NO".
Next, I click "Fit to disc" button and I receive a message:
"Media file is too big and could not fit into single disc"!
So, what is wrong?
If someone can help me, please.
