I have a couple questions concerning the licenseor use of the MP3 format with
Sound Forge 5.0 and Batch Converter 5.0.

It looks like, using the specification data, that Sound Forge and the MP3
format is bundled. It also looks like the MP3 format is optional (additional cost)
for the Batch Converter 5.0.

Question 1
So if one buys Sound Forge 5.0 with the MP3 conversion format, is it
necessary to buy the MP3 plug in with Batch Converter 5.0.

Question 2
Do you need Sound Forge 5.0 with Batch Converter 5.0 or can Batch
Conveter 5.0 stand alone. It appears that it can.

Thanks gary

You will have to license to MP3 plugin for the Batch Converter. It will run as a stand alone app.

My opinion is that the whole licensing/registration sceme that SF is using is a major P-I-T-A. Some of us change our systems around alot. Also the re-licensing of the MP3 plugin is bad planning. Also the Process tools available in Sound Forge are not available in Batch Converter. Most of my batch processes would use these so the Batch Converter was pretty much a waste of my money.

I don't know what these guys are thinking over there.

I had the same experience. I just wasted $100 + another $20 on the MP3 plug-in.
