Subject:Midi to USB for x64 bit Windows

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this question, but it looks like the place I'm most likely to get an answer.

I recently picked up a Roland XP-10 synth from eBay, and would like to compose with it.

Now, it's been many years since I last used a synthesiser, and technology has moved on. I thought what I needed was a sequencer, but technology has moved on it seems that connecting the keyboard to a computer is the thing to do. That suits me fine.

Midi to USB cables seem to be the widget I need, but the problem is that I'm using Vista 64 bit, and all I can find is 32 bit compatible devices.

So, can anyone recommend a device that comes with 64-bit drivers? Any advice or guidance would be most welcome.

Thank you.

(I do have a notebook PC running Windows XP, but it may not be fast enough for composing...)

I am using "USB MIDI Cable Converter PC to Music Keyboard Window Win Vista XP, Mac OS" from Amazon.com.
It works fine with my Casio keyboard and Sony Music Studio software on a Vista 64 bit machine..

It's very inexpensive and did not require any drivers at all.

Thanks for that. I've seen similar items on ebay, so I've bought one from there for a similar price.

If it works, great; if it doesn't I'll just have to rely on the notebook and WinXP.

Peter,

I would think that if it works for Vista x64 it will work for Windows 7 x64. Win7 has amazed me - nothing I've thrown at it has failed to install, not even flight simulation hardware designed for Win98... widgets that hardly anyone would have come across.

I'll post back to let you know if my cable works with Vista x64.

This is what I bought. Quick delivery and installed without any problems under Vista x64.

Just have to install some midi-aware software and I'll see how good it really is... As I've never tried this sort of thing before, how will I know if it's bad?!
