Hello, people.

After associating my Wav. and MP3s with Sound Forge (to be opened in SF 5.0 with a double click), I am have trouble putting it back to "No Association." I go back to the Preferences and hit "select none" under the file tab, but it still says FORGE.EXE next to Wav. and MP3, even after re-starting. Furthermore, it replaced my Wav. and MP3 icons with an image I've never seen before. Am I missing something? Everything still works as normal, but I'd sure like to get it back to the way it was. I have the latest update for SF 5.0. Anyone?

If a file is not associated with anything it will have a Microsoft icon on it.

You had to have your wave and mp3 files associated with *some* program, even if it was the Windows Media Player.

You can change file associations by going to Start/Steetingd/Folder Options/File associations. You can set things to your liking there but you MUST BE CAREFUL!

Even if your files still carry that strange icon you mention you can still open your files with your choice of program. You can also change the icon.

Personally, since I had Cool Edit 2000 first, all of my mp3 files have Cool Edit 2000 icons. I like it that way because they are very identifiable.
