Before I start the long road of troubleshooting this problem with Sony I thought I would ask here first. When I first had this problem with Vegas 8.1/DVDA 5 I searched here and noticed others also had this issue. I worked with Sony tech support for 2-3 weeks and never got past diagnositic procedures and more trashed disks. I eventually gave up and switched to ImgBurn.
I've tried to burn a DVD from the timeline and haven't had any success. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64-bit with a DVD-RW. The writing lead-in reaches 100% then hangs there. Write buffer shows 0% wih no time remaining. Hit cancel and I get the blue spinning wheel and still no response. Hit cancel a few more times and I get the Vegas Pro is not responding message and Vegas closes.
I had the exact same problem on this system with DVD Architect 5. I was really hoping this problem would have gone away when I upgraded from 8.1. I've also tried DVD-Rs and ruined them too.
I also tried burning with DVD Architect 5.2 and had the same problem and another ruined DVD-RW. I'm able to burn with ImgBurn.
My DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR-218L with the latest and only firmware 1.02.
This is a relatviely new I7 930 6GB system that I've burned many DVDs with ImgBurn, but none with Vegas or DVD Architect.
Thanks for your comments.
