Subject:Recording via Zoom H4n as interface (please help)
Date:10/17/2010 9:25:01 PM

I'm trying to use the Zoom H4n as an interface via USB with Acid Music Studio 7.

I've got the latest ASIO drivers installed and the H4n updated. I've got the H4n set as the default recording device in windows and the default under options> preferences> audio device in AcidMS. The H4n is set to interface and LED's are registering. I have tried track inputs at left, right and stereo (testing via H4n's stereo mics). LED’s are registering on the Acid track when armed. When I press record the cursor moves but no waveform is left in it’s wake (no recording). The interface is communicating with the computer and both the Zoom H4n and Acid have LED levels registering but no recording is going to the track. Seems like the interface is doing it’s part. Do you know what is keeping me from recording to the track?

Thanks!
david

We don't that that hardware in house. My guess no other users on the forum do either.

Have you tried contacting Zoom?

That's bizarre. I can see the meters moving in Music Studio for the armed track in your video. (Nice lava lamp, ya hippie! <jk> ) I don't even see an event/clip being drawn, never mind a waveform.

Is there something maybe video-related that's going on here? Did you try different video drivers? Out of curiosity, if you have any video drivers installed, did you try uninstalling them and going with the plain-vanilla VGA driver Microsoft provides to see if that helps?

Nothing happens when you select the ASIO driver for the H4n? (That's even more bizarre, as ASIO drivers are guaranteed to give a better result than using WDM drivers.)

Wish I could be of more help, skroot. Use Zoom's H1 here but that doesn't act as an audio interface.
