Subject:When will spectrum analysis tool be fixed?

I reported a bug in the spectrum analysis tool in 10.0 back in March. The bug is that the tool goes outside the selection during the analysis. You can reproduce the problem with the following steps:

- Create a new 24-bit mono sound file with a sample rate of 44.1 KHz (the bug may show up with other settings, but I know it can be reproduced this way).

- Insert 3 seconds of a 500 Hz sine wave, followed by 3 seconds of a 1000 Hz sine wave.

- Make a selection between 2.0 and 2.5 seconds.

- Bring up the spectrum analysis tool and use it to analyze the selection.

The spectrum analyzer should show a single peak at 500 Hz. Instead, it will show two peaks: one at 500 Hz and one at 1000 Hz. The tool has apparently gone past the end of the selection in doing the analysis.

I have verified that this bug isn't in version 9.0c.

People have complained about other bugs in spectrum analysis in this forum. This is not an exotic, obscure tool. The fact that it is broken is affecting people's ability to use the product..It has been seven months since I reported the bug. I would like to know when it will be fixed.

Jeff, I cannot duplicate this behavior on my two PCs, XP & Vista.. SF-10b ~ Build 474.
Are there any specific parameters settings in Spectrum Analysts.

Try raising the FFT size to 65536. You should see two distinct peaks. The problem seems be reduced at lower FFT size settings.

I see, "said the blind man".
Yeah Jeff, at 32,768 too and less so @ 16,xxx. But OK in SF-9.
Don't hold your breath for fixes, however SCS surprised me with the audio changes in Vegas 10.
