Subject:Acid Pro 4 and MusicLab Vsti

Hi,

With Acid Pro 4, I render a MIDI file through a MusicLab VST instrument (RealGuitar, RealStrat, RealLPC).

RealGuitar has a "Quick load" option : it allows to load a reduced set of samples at startup, the extra is loaded from disk when needed.
With this "Quick load" option set to "on", the render does not work properly : notes are cut off (randomly at each render). However, the preview plays fine.
So, before rendering, I have to set the 'Quick Load" option to "OFF" for the whole sample library can be loaded.

However, RealStrat and RealLPC do NOT have the "Quick Load" option. They never load the whole sample library. So, a good rendering cannot be done.
I sent this issue to MusicLab support, asking them to add the "Quick Load" option in both instruments. I'm waiting for a reply.

About Acid Pro 4, are there parameters to change (buffer size ? other setting ?) to avoid this issue and render even if the "Quick Load" is on ? What could be the cause of this problem ?

Thanks.

This sounds VSTi-specific as I never have had that option available to me. When I load a drum kit in KitCore, the whole thing loads (which I would prefer anyway).

It sounds like the ball is in MusicLab's park.

A work-around would be to perform a "real-time bounce to stereo" instead of a non-realtime render to stereo. I've never used ACID Pro 4 so I don't know if can perform a realtime bounce but its worth investigating.

Bouncing to stereo in realtime takes more time to accomplish but it has several benefits including:
1) Using hardware MIDI instruments driven by your MIDI tracks
2) Using external hardware effects
3) Work-arounds for certain VSTI issues

The early versions of Pro Tools LE didn't have a non-realtime render function...it only had realtime bounce to disk. I don't know if the newer versions of PTLE have render or bounce.

Another option would be to simply record your VSTI's to audio tracks then render your project as you normally would.

Thanks.
Meanwhile, I found a workaround by changing a value in the registry to force RealStrat and RealLPC to load the whole sample set.
But it's tricky and not so handy.
I'm still waiting for news from MusicLab.

I got news from MusicLab. They confirm the registry workaround and this annoyance will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Could any Acid Internal parameter (buffer, time-out, ...) help solving this VSTi issue ?
