Subject:sony acid 7 seminar disc won't play on sony bluray Posted by: s k r o o t a y p Date:9/6/2010 6:37:01 PM sony won't play on sony. isn't this a kicker (especially when you add up the cost of the sony player and the astronomical cost of the seminar set). disc 1 specifically says "optimized for viewing on your television set in widescreen format through a standard dvd player. my sony bluray player should at least qualify as that. but i repeatedly get a message on the readout saying "invalid" and on the screen saying "cannot playback this disc". you gotta be kidding me sony. i just pulled the shrink wrap off this set moments ago and the disc is spottless. yeah i could try it on my computer but that's not widescreen and not the point. anybody know what's going on?

Be sure to check Sony's electronics support site for a possible update. I've had DVDs I've authored do weird things in different Blu-Ray players. (For example, I couldn't get a DVD menu but the DVD played back fine.) Just the nature of the beast as we all transition to the new(er) format. You also have to remember: Sony Creative is basically a separate entity from, say, Sony Music. (The Sony Creative Software apps started out under Sonic Foundry and I believe Sony Creative's headquarters is still in Wisconsin.) Iacobus

But, since you asked ... pressed discs always look bright silver like a mirror, or occasionally slightly yellow tinged. Burned discs are almost always darker like pewter, often with a purple or blue tinge.
