Hi all been awhile! Switching between 32 & 64bit

epirb wrote on 9/28/2010, 2:02 PM
havent been editing video in a while but getting back into it, and maybe some of this will change w V10, but i doubt it. But since 64 bit wont handle many of the audio effects such as sonic maximizer,Virtosand izotope eq's etc.. I find i have to switch back to 32 bit to fix/tweek audio. problem is i am also using some orig .mov files from 5dmk2,and if there like more than a few in the T/L or media pool 32 wont render(low Memory issue)(no,8gigs on my machine). or crash upon opening the .veg .
is there any way to not have to go back and forth? or some more efficient way than what im doing?

If you have the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the software installed on the same machine under a 64 bit OS then "switching" from one version of the application to another is about as good as it gets.

Probably the old problem about Windows having difficulties assigning memory to 32 bit apps.

See this thread

or several similiar (search for i.e. CFF or 2GB)

Is there a reason you are not using a digital intermediate with the 5D footage? Then the 32 bit would handle you just fine.

Hi Ya Keith ! i have converted to m2t before but haven't really tried any other format for conversion. Im not really sure what other format it converts to best,I heard many issues w color space etc going form the .mov files to other formats. so i have been trying to just output to my final w as little conversion as poss.
What are most using these days as inter ?

Ritsmer, Thanx read that long thread, may try that , but aso may hold off till V10 is out and see if any of this is addressed before changeing V9, if not ill stick w V( and try the changes..

I can't speak for 'most' folks, but I use production assistant to convert to Cineform. IF there are colour space issues you can throw appropriate correction into it that way. Technically there may be issues, but I have yet to see any difference visually or on my scope.

Some here like the Avid CODEC for a DI.
