Subject:long file, many songs, no markers or regions

I received a file with 23 songs and was told to separate them, inserting a two-second silence between each. The file has no markers or regions. It's just a single file. It doesn't take very long to find the hole between the songs, but it takes forever to spot precisely where the prior song goes to "silence," the new song breaks the silence, insert a marker, insert two seconds of silence, convert the markers to regions, and extract the regions. I'm assuming there's nothing that would do everything. But it would be a big help if I could push something like ctrl and the forward arrow (I'm making that up, obviously) and it would go straight to the next silence. Thanks for the help!! |

CD Architect would help, but it's not totally automatic or foolproof either. Drive-less high-tech cars (for low-tech drivers) should be available soon too, as well as eateries that deliver. I have heard that some TVs now come with remote control features so one never has to get off the couch. Life's tough, ain't it! |

Sound Forge has the ability to detect silences between songs and insert regions with Process / Auto Trim/Crop. It can show false positives if there are very quiet sections within a song, but these are easy enough to remove after you've gotten all the real breaks marked. How long i the silence between the songs currently? If there's enough to be able to easily see the "holes" then there's probably more than 2 seconds already. |
