Hi all,
With the two for one loop library sale going on, I was thinking about buying a couple more packs.

I like libraries that have construction kits like Cinematic Funk. I am not really good at digging through loop libraries and finding things that go together as I am not really musically inclined, so having things in categories/folders that are made to be mixed is easier and more fun for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for any loop libraries that are in construction kits or something similar?

thanks
kairosmatt

Pretty much all of the titles marked with a "construction kit" subtitle of some sort are sure to please. Methods of Mayhem is pretty good but that's practically rock/industrial.

Depends what kind of music to like. If it's straight-ahead rock, then Metal: the Ultimate Construction Kit is absolutely lots of fun. ACID Rock is a nice overall collection of rock band instruments that's great as a starter kit for someone new to this kind of music construction. There are lots of rock samples among the free loops that ship with Acid Pro, so if you combine those with the ACID Rock collection, there's plenty to get started.

For more R&B there's Dr. Fink's Funk Factory, which is another standalone construction kit, but perhaps needs a bit more sophistication to play with.

For standard jazz, On The Jazz Tip can get you sounding like a cool jazz quartet within minutes.

Those are some of my recommendations, from someone who is not a musician, but has been producing songs and soundtracks in Acid Pro for a couple years now. Soon you'll get hooked and start going on to the harder stuff.

The thing you can always expect from the Sony loops is that they are well edited. They will give you good results over a wide tempo range.

All that said, http://www.producerloops.com has some contruction kits for sale. I haven't bought from them, so I have no idea of ther quality.

There's a two for one sale? I'm out of the loop (pardon the expression)! Where is it? ;-p

I'm into all kinds of music, but for 'work' and not 'play' the things that are most useful are reggae/dub/island style stuff (but not latin like salsa) and some low key cinema style music.

I have the roots reggae collection, and its cool, but it takes me a lot of fidgeting deleting and restarting just to figure out where to start!

I also have Ambient Light and Cinemascape because they have starter projects, but they are still a little too advanced for me! (I think I must be tone deaf....)

Really into rock, but it doesn't fit my projects. I will check out the loop kits anyways though, you never know....

cheers,
kairosmatt
