Subject:Analogue Drums trigger Midi Sounds

Sorry if this is basic stuff to some of you but I'm not able to find the answer: anywhere:

I've recorded live drums using Sony ACid Pro 7. I want to use the kick drum track to trigger some of the midi sounds in the software. Is there an easy "how to" somewhere out in cyberspace I can follow?

thanks,
Curt

I've heard of MIDI devices themselves sending data to ACID Pro (and vice versa) but never digital audio being able to trigger MIDI. They are pretty much exclusive entities from each other.

Maybe you wanted to use a MIDI controller of some sort to trigger sounds in the DLS soft synth (or any other soft synth for that matter) in ACID Pro?

I think you need to restate your question...try to be a little more specific.

If you want to replace your kick sound with some other sound, there are S/W apps called "Drum Replacement" available.

Here's one of many: http://www.drumagog.com/drumagog4_index.htm
Search under "Drum Replacer/Drum Replacement" and you'll find several on the market.

If you truly want to keep your kick and have it trigger another sound via MIDI, there are a number of software & hardware options available.

Here's one S/W option: http://www.digital-ear.com/digital-ear/wav-to-midi.asp

Search under "Pitch to MIDI" or "Pitch to MIDI Converter".
