Hi all, I was wondering if there's some way to add FX to ONLY a small selection of a track ? For example, if I just wanted to add an echo to the last measure of one track on a project. A suggestion for SF.....I love the help files that you guys have written. They're very detailed and helpful. But I sure wish you would add a section telling what Acid CANNOT do. For example, a simple statement like "You cannot overdub using the record function in Acid"...strategically placed in the help files in several locations. I think this would save a huge amount of hunting, hours of tech support time, and forum subject repetition. Thanks! |

if you want to add an FX to a small portion of ure audio...do the following: 1. duplicate the track that has the small portion of audio that u want to apply to FX to 2. now, first go to the duplicated track and split the track right before that small portion begins and if you need to, right after that audio portion ends 3. now, while still in the duplicated track, delete the unnecessary portions of audio which are TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF THE PORTION OF AUDIO U WANT TO USE! 4. now you just have that portion of audio isolated on the duplicated track....now apply you FX to this track portion...reverb or what every....maybe TEMPO DELAY MY FAVORITE 5. go back to the original track and DELETE THE PORTION OF AUDIO THAT HAS THE FX APPLIED TO IT...otherwise both tracks will play the same thing at one time and the hearing experience wouldnt be too pleasant! 6. thats it.....now you applied the FX to the small section of audio while maintaing your original sound IT MAY SEEMS HARD....BUT IT GETS EASIER AND EASIER EVERYTIME U DO IT! |

Thanks Rollinxtc, So if I understand right, the only way to put FX on a small selection is to duplicate the track and apply it? Nuts. I was hoping I wouldn't have to add tracks just to take FX in and out of the mix. I suppose this also means that the effect has to be the same all the way through the track? Gah ! BTW, where do you find your favorite FX you called Tempo Delay ? I don't see it listed anywhere. Thanks, Tede |

Why not also try inserting an assignable FX chain? (You have ACID Pro 3, correct?) In a nutshell, you could then take an envelope, drag it all the way down on the event and then add a couple points. Take the second point and double-click it, which will set the FX to about the same volume as your original signal. Then take the first point and drag it underneath the second point. (Make sure it's set at -Inf. dB) To eliminate the effect, just reverse the process so that you get your original signal back. I can give a quick sample if you want to take a look at this. (You must have ACID Pro 3.) Email me if wanted. HTH, Iacobus |

Yeah you don't really need to duplicate the track you just add an envelope and wherever you don't want the effects just drag the envelope down to nothing |

Thanks Rockitglider. Only one problem....I can't find the FX envelope toggle in either the right click menu or the INSERT drop down menu on the toolbar. I see that the manual talks about the FX envelope control, but I'll be darned if I can find it. (Yes I have a track selected and an FX assignable bus added) Learned another thing too....The HELP files don't have all the information that the manual does. Thanks again, Tede |

Tede, First click a track's name, then right-click the track>"Insert/Remove Envelope". Your assignable FX should be in the list. You *sure* you have ACID Pro? ;o) Pro's the only version of ACID with envelopes. Iacobus |

That's correct, but you have to create the effect before it will show up in the list, and I think it has to be an assignable effect. I don't think you can put envelopes on track effects, you have to assign the track to an assignable effect for it to work. See ya |

AH ! That was it ! Thanks Rockitglider. The problem was I had created track effects, not assignable effects. Once I created the assignable effects with the insert menu (as you suggested) I got the envelope prompt in the right click. Thanks again, Tede |

Thanks for pointing that out, Rockitglider. Forgot to mention that. Glad to hear you've got it working now, Tede! Iacobus |
