Subject:midi setup to control vsti drum machine: HELP!

Hi, I hooked up my Korg ES1, which is a sampler/ rythm production sequencer, to acid pro. I use it to control a vsti plugin, DSK Drumz Machinez, or other drum machine plugins. The korg sends its midi to Acid just fine but the samples in the plugin are cut off. So I d like to know how I can alter the settings so the sample plays till the end. I ve tried quantization in acid to half notes but that didn't work in real time play. I tried to run my midi through a midi gate first but I can't seem to get that working neither. What can I do? Cheers. Brett. |

Hi Brett, If you tried another drum VSTi (like KitCore, which comes with ACID Pro 7), does the problem still occur? (You mentioned other drum VSTis but not which ones.) I believe even when you release a button/pad on the ES1 it sends a "note off" message but the sample in question should continue to play to its end. (At least that's what happens when I use KitCore with my Korg nanoPAD in ACID Pro 7.) Iacobus |

Hi, You re right. The DSK mini Drumz vst does play the full length of the sample. But now it sometimes skips a note. A bass that is to close to a hihat doesn t get played at all. While the midi gets through fine. Is it because the free vst is of inferior quality? I tried to get a go with Kitcore but the trial of Acid 7 doesn t feature it. Could be the case with DSK Drumz being of inferior quality; I've never heard of a drum VSTi where the bass drum stops playing if it's too close to a hi-hat "note". Rest assured that KitCore does not do this. (It will also realistically do techniques like "choking" hi-hats if you have an open hi-hat note followed immediately by a closed hi-hat note, for example.) |
