Is anyone using this combination?

Having trouble opening tracks from CW in SF 5 and getting them back to CW. Can only get tracks into SF if open it from CW Tools menu with track selected. Drag and drop from CW to SF doesn't work. SF window opens on drag, but when release, nothing shows up in SF window.

After edit in SF, save file and return to CW. CW prompts for save which I execute, but edited trac is not saved, only original trac before SF edit shows in CW. Playback confirms that SF edits were not saved.

Any ideas what is going on here? Have Win 98 SE, Intel 450 mhz, 256Mb RAM. Internal EIDE 4GB (for apps) and external SCSI 18 GB drives (for files).

Thanks for any ideas/help.

I haven't tried what you are attempting to do...although I do have cakewalk and soundforge on the same system. The answer is probably easy.....why would 2 competitor softwares want to make themselves compatible with themselves? I use vegas and soundforge, and have no problems. Why would sonic foundry make their software compatible with cakewalk so you can have drag and drop between each other?
That would encourage you to not buy vegas.....dahhhh what's the point?

I haven't used PA9 since I installed SONAR many months
ago, but it should be the same process.
1) Highlight the audio clip in (PA9/SONAR)
2) Go to "Tools" and select "Sound Forge"
3) SF5.0 will open a copy of the selected wave clip
4) Make any processing and/or editing to clip
5) When finished, close the SF wave clip window
6) You will be prompted to save changes, click "Yes"
7) Close out or minimize SF
8) PA9/SONAR will ask if you want the changed wave
file reloaded. Click "Yes"
9) The SF edited file has now replaced the existing
wave file in PA9/SONAR.

Thanks for explaining the process. However, my problem is that when I come back to CW and it reloads the file, the trac is NOT actually saved. Although CW acts like it was, playback of the trac confirms it was NOT saved because the edits performed in SF are not HEARD. In addition, the wave form that was there is now blank.

SF Tech support has not answered this question yet. I hope I can get an answer without being criticised for using CW instead of a Sonic Foundry product. I don't have time to learn multiple audio apps.

Thanks.

I am not sure why it is not working for you. Just
to make sure I am not giving out misinformation,
I repeated the process myself with SF5.0 & SONAR.
Using a short vocal audio clip from within SONAR,
I used the "Reverse" process in SF5.0 on the clip.
I checked to make sure it procesesed it correctly,
then closed out of the editing window, saved and
once back in SONAR clicked "Yes" to reload the file
and bingo bango there it was. It played back correctly
as it did in SF5.0. The process does work, I am not
sure why it is not working for you.

Sorry I could not be of more help,

Billy Buck
